Today's devotion is from 2 Peter 1:2
"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord."
The Greek word for grace is “khä'rēs.” The words charismatic and charisma come from the Greek word khä'rēs.
The word khä'rēs has a root description as well as a fruit description. Most translate it according to the fruit which is “unmerited favor, supernatural, God given ability, divine power, goodwill, joy and spiritual gifts.”
GRACE is all that, but it is so much more…
The ROOT meaning of the word khä'rēs in the context of Holy Scripture literally means to be infused or enveloped with the Holy Spirit, and it is in that state of being enveloped by the Holy Spirit that we receive the FRUIT of unmerited favor, supernatural, God given ability, divine power, goodwill, joy and spiritual gifts.
This is why the Apostle Peter said that GRACE gets MULTIPLIED to us in the KNOWLEDGE of God [the Father, the Spirit] and of Jesus. As we spend time at the throneroom of GRACE worshipping and developing an intimate relationship with the Lord, as we get to KNOW the Father, Son and Holy Spirit more and more, as we get enveloped by the Holy Spirit at the throne of grace… GRACE gets multiplied to us.
New Covenant GRACE is not just about an unmerited gift, it is all about the person of GRACE, Jesus Christ. It is all about a RELATIONSHIP with the Lord, an EXPERIENCE of intimacy with God through the overshadowing, enveloping, infusing presence of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
