Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 1 Chronicles 16:7-11

On that day David gave to Asaph and his fellow Levites this song of thanksgiving to the Lord

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore!”

David and Israel had just placed the ark of God in the tabernacle, and offered their covenant sacrifices. A song of worship, and thanksgiving arose from the people to God, giving thanks and proclaiming His wonderful deeds.

Instead of us offering burnt sacrifices, Jesus became our sacrifice, and paid the price for all of our sins, establishing a new and better covenant of grace, blessing, freedom and power in Him! Because of Jesus, the Holy Spirit now resides, not in a temple made with human hands, not in a wooden ark, overlaid with gold, but His dwelling place is on the inside of us.

David and Israel had lots to give thanks about, but how much more do we have to be thankful for? I am thankful for what Jesus has done, I am thankful for the Holy Spirit, and I am thankful for our awesome heavenly Father. He is the source of EVERYTHING good. (James 1:17)

Today as all of our country is celebrating, let's lift our hearts with a song of thanksgiving today.

He has made you His dwelling place, you have been made alive in Christ, and because of Jesus, you and I now reign in life in Him. Hallelujah.

From our family to yours, Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you.

Esther
