Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus

for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:8-10 deals with two different kinds of ‘works’. Works that we perform to receive blessings, and works that God made ready beforehand that we walk in supernaturally. The one form of ‘works’ is of the flesh, in our own strength and ability and is based upon our performance, and the other form of ‘works’ is propelled by the Spirit, is walked in by His strength and is based upon His performance through us.

The first is a work of the flesh and the second a work of faith.

A work of the flesh is dependent on your effort, puts faith in your ability, and expects God to reward what you do. A work of faith is dependent on God’s finished work in Christ, puts faith in His ability, and expects God to manifest all of His promises by grace, through faith in Jesus.

We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. These ‘good works’ are a continuation of the works of Jesus. In His Name and through His authority, by the power of the Holy Spirit, with His anointing, preaching the gospel to the poor; healing the brokenhearted, proclaiming liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, setting at liberty those who are oppressed; and proclaiming that this is the season grace in Christ to all who would receive Him. (Luke 4:18-19)
