Today's word is from Acts 1:8, 2:4
Jesus said, “you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
The benefit of praying in the Spirit is that when we speak in tongues, we receive supernatural miracle working power!
Jesus said that you shall receive POWER [dü'nämēs] when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
That Greek word dü'nämēs is the same word translated ‘The working of MIRACLES’
in 1 Corinthians 12:10.
The Strongs Concordance #G1411 describes the word dü'nämēs the following way…
*Strength power, ability
*Inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person
or thing exerts and puts forth
*Power for performing miracles
*Moral power and excellence of soul
*The power and influence, which belong to riches and wealth
*Power and resources arising from numbers
*Power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts
So when Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:4 that he who speaks in a tongue edifies [builds himself up,] he was saying that when you speak in tongues, you edify yourself with…
Strength power, ability, inherent power, power residing in your very nature, which is there for you to exert and put forth. Power for performing miracles, moral power and excellence of soul, the power and influence, which belong to riches and wealth, power and resources arising from numbers and power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts.
