Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Psalm 63:1-5 (NKJV)

O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; MY SOUL THIRSTS FOR YOU; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land here there is no water. So, I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

How thirsty are you for more of Jesus, more of His presence… how thirsty are you to have a fresh encounter with the Lord… to see, and experience His POWER and His GLORY?

David’s soul was so THIRSTY for more of God that He got up in the early hours of the morning to seek Him… longing for more of Him like someone in a dry and thirsty land longs for water… when He came to the sanctuary, He went LOOKING, seeking and yearning for a fresh encounter of the power, presence and glory of the Lord.

One of the things that challenges me the most is when I see spiritual apathy… when I see believers who live their lives in a lukewarm state… if they come to church at all, they come late, and when they get there, they don’t press in, they are not visibly seeking anything, and they wear an ‘apathetical’ expression on their faces. When you talk to them, they show no signs of eagerness for more of God… sometimes I am tempted to reach out to see if there is a pulse…

It is actually very easy to slip into a state of spiritual apathy… all you have to do is to STOP feeding your spirit the Word, and stop drinking the anointing. People who do not eat or drink for extended periods of time actually lose their appetites and become very lethargic in the last stages of life. In the same way, believers who do not regularly ‘drink of Him’ and ‘eat of Him’ by drinking the living waters of the Spirit and eating the Word, start dying spiritually… apathy and lethargy starts to set in and spiritual hunger and thirst begins to go away.

Spiritual hunger and thirst INCREASES as believers partake of the Lord on a daily basis… notice, David rose early each morning, and then, when he went to the sanctuary, he went hungry and thirsty and seeking an encounter with the person, the power and the presence of the Lord!

Drink and eat of Him every day, and then come to the sanctuary hungry, thirsty, and in faith for a fresh encounter… as you encounter His glory, you will be TRANSFORMED from glory to glory into His very image, walking in His power and doing mighty exploits in His Name!

In His amazing love, Nick
