Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
The Greek word translated as ‘confessed’, and ‘confession’ is ‘homologéō’, literally meaning, ‘to say the same thing’, or, ‘to verbally come in agreement with’. When you speak the Word, you are saying the same things that Jesus said, and when you speak the Word in faith, you are in agreement with what it says.
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called and have declared, and come in agreement with what Jesus has spoken over your life, by faith according to the Word, in the presence of many who can verify your words of life.”
You can say what other people say, you can say what the devil’s plans are, you can speak about your fears, you can tell others about the doctor’s report, you can ‘share’ your frustrations with others, you can ‘tell’ the Lord all about your troubles, or you can say what God says… you can come in agreement with the Word and speak life.
This is how we fight! We resist ‘talking trash’, we resist negativity, we resist getting pulled into gossip and conversations that are critical about people or circumstances, we resist sharing negative things on social media, and we speak the Word in faith in front of others, on social media, and even in prayer. The Lord does not want to hear about what the devil is doing, or planning… He does not want to hear about your fears, or about your offenses… He wants to hear faith! The Father wants to hear you boldly declaring the Word in faith in His presence!
Fight the good fight, say the same thing that Jesus has said in the living, powerful Word, and you will have what you say, regardless of what others are saying! So, what do you say?
In His amazing love, Nick
