Today’s New Covenant nugget is from John 15:4,5 (TPT)
So you must remain in life-union with Me, for I remain in life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine. I am the sprouting vine and you’re My branches. As you live in union with Me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from Me you are powerless
Jesus is the vine that our lives are connected to. I love how The Passion Translation uses the words ‘life–union’. We are to stay in life-union with Jesus. Outside of Jesus there is no life flowing through us. Every day that we exist in Christ, fruit will flow out of our lives. A fruitless life is a dull, depressed, ‘going nowhere life’, a life without hope; but, a fruit bearing life, is a life that is in fellowship with Jesus and overflowing the fruit of the spirit in every word spoken and in every response to situations and circumstances.
Have you ever had seasons in your life where you just weren’t in that place of life-union? You were making your own decisions, lost in your own thoughts, caught up in your own actions and barely spending time in prayer or the Word. Do you remember the empty, restless feeling?
Being in the Word and fellowship with Jesus is a ‘life-union’ I don’t want to live without. The Bible tells us that when we are in Him, that fruitfulness will stream from within us. When we in Him, we overflow with everything that He is and that He represents, and our lives have power; power to sustain us, power to propel us forward and power to impact the lives of others.
Today, be like that lamp on the coffee table in your house, it’s plugged into the electric source, and when the switch is activated, life and power flows through the electric cords to the light bulb as the electricity lights up the bulb. That is exactly how lives are in Christ, we can only light up and have life and power flowing through us when we allow ourselves to stay plugged into Him. He is our power source.
In His amazing love, Esther
