Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Romans 8:5-7 (NLT)
‘Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.’
Having your mind dominated by ‘sinful things’ is more than being consumed with what most people consider to be sin… ‘sin-consciousness’ includes a mind that is overtaken and overwhelmed by stress, worry, negativity, and problems that cannot be resolved by natural ability. When you have a ‘mind of the Spirit,’ filled with ‘faith filled’ thoughts, it leads to life and peace.
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature, think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit, think about things that please the Spirit… another way of saying this is, “Those who’s minds are dominated by problems, fears and negative things, only think about the worst possible outcomes in life, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit, have their minds dominated by the Spirit, the Word and the promises of God.”
The Bible says that “Whatever is not of FAITH, is sin.” (Romans 14:23) Sin-consciousness is having your thoughts dominated by situations, circumstances, or challenges, outside of the realm of faith. As soon as you add FAITH to a thought, then it is no longer a sin-conscious thought. FAITH is birthed out of the WORD, so when you add the WORD, your TEST immediately becomes a TESTIMONY in the making, and your potential tombstone, immediately becomes a stepping stone!
A spirit-controlled mind is a mindset of FAITH… a mindset of faith is stayed on the New Covenant Word, and a FAITH mindset will always be filled with joy and peace! Selah!
