2 Peter 1-4 Partakers.jpg

Today’s New Covenant nugget is from 2 Peter 1:4 (NLT)

And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

I love this scripture… in the King James bible, it reads, “might be partakers of the divine nature”. A partaker is someone who ‘takes on’ and participates in something… we have been ENABLED to be partakers of His divine nature. Through Christ, we are supernaturally enabled to share, to partner and to ‘take on’ Christ’s divine, supernatural nature and essence.

The Greek word translated ‘partakers’ is ‘koinōnós’, literally meaning, ‘to share, to take on, and to participate as a partner or as a companion’…

The Greek word translated as ‘nature’ is ‘phýsis’, literally meaning ‘the sum of innate properties and powers by which one person differs from others, distinctive native peculiarities or natural characteristics’.

In Christ, we are linked with and supernaturally ‘enabled’ to share Jesus’ DNA… this enables us to literally live as Jesus lived and do what Jesus did in His Name.

2 Peter 1:4 says that Jesus has given us great and precious promises (the Word according to the New Covenant)… These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature… in other words, the Word enables us to share in, to partake and to take on Jesus’ divine essence, properties, nature and DNA.

Isn’t that just amazing when you think about it? The God who created all heaven and earth, has given us His precious Word, and as we receive the promises in His Word, by faith and through His great grace, we become partakers of His, not only supernatural nature but His Heavenly, Divine Nature.

We get to “taste and see” that the Lord is good and great and greatly to be praised. We get to experience His divine nature living inside of us. His Divine Nature in our spirit man now begins to live through us as we keep yielding to Him… receiving His promises and allowing His Word access into our lives by Faith.

His Word in my heart, on my lips, on my mind becomes His “Living Word” that feeds my spirit man and as I yield and receive and lay hold of His promises, He allows me to share in His Divine nature so that I can escape the corruption of the world and live by the desires of the Spirt of God.

In His amazing Love, Esther
