Today’s New Covenant nugget is from James 3:3-5 (TPT)
Horses have bits and bridles in their mouths so that we can control and guide their large body. And the same with mighty ships, though they are massive and driven by fierce winds, yet they are steered by a tiny rudder at the direction of the person at the helm. And so the tongue is a small part of the body yet it carries great power!
The bible says that death and life is in the power of the tongue, and here in James 3 the Word compares your tongue to a rudder of a mighty ship – the conclusion is… you can tell the direction of a person by listening to them talk.
The revelation that I believe that the Lord wants to impart to us today, is that we chart our course with our words of faith… as soon as you know what the leading of the Spirit is, start declaring it, speaking about it, discussing it and laying hold of it by your words.
The trap of the enemy is to get us to complain and to speak death so that we use our rudders to steer our lives into shipwreck.
How do we speak life and use our words as rudders to get us to where we need to go?
James talks about a tiny rudder at the direction of the person at the helm… so, we need to begin by asking the question, who is the person at the helm, is it your flesh, under the influence of the devil, or is it your spirit, under the influence of the Holy Spirit? (see yesterday’s teaching)
As you continue to die daily to your flesh by grace through faith, as you starve your flesh and feed your spirit, as you grow in spirit, your spirit man together with your renewed soul (mind, will and emotions) under the leading of the Holy Spirit will stand confidently at the helm of your mighty ship, and use words of faith as a rudder to steer your life in the direction that God has for you. Your anointed words of power and faith will lead you on the path of LIFE beside still waters.
Pay attention to your words and to your conversations with others and walk in the revelation that what you are saying is actually directing and steering your life.
Blessings on you, Nick
