King's Heart.jpg

Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Proverbs 21:1

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.

The Passion Translation says, “It’s as easy for God to steer a king’s heart for His purposes as it is for Him to direct the course of a stream.”

The Lord has been ministering to me about how to pray for leaders including our Mayors, our Governors, Congress, the Senate as well as for our President. No matter which country that you live in, some leaders really lack wisdom, have strong unbiblical values, and have a very ungodly agenda.

Many Christians that I know spend most of their time complaining, whining and criticizing leaders that they do not agree with, and I have to admit, at times some of these leaders have gotten under my skin to the degree that I was whining and complaining like the rest of the naysayers. I would repent right away, but found myself slipping into the trap of negativity all over again.

I asked the Holy Spirit to minister to me concerning this issue and He immediately began to direct me onto His divine path concerning this. Firstly, we have to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and maintain a Philippians 4:8 mindset about everything, including how we deal with ungodly, misled leaders.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (TPT) says, “Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. It is pleasing to our Savior-God to pray for them.”

Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”

The Holy Spirit encouraged me to pray for all of our leaders including and especially the ungodly, unwise ones with evil agendas – to speak a blessing over them, to bind the spirit of deception over them and to speak wisdom over them - He encouraged me to stand on Proverbs 21:1, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes”, and to begin to thank the Lord for turning their hearts around.

Paul the apostle was a very evil murderer with very evil intentions before he got saved – the Holy Spirit showed me that people were praying for Paul as he was in his reign of terror in persecuting believers. Their prayers resulted in Paul’s heart being turned towards God on the road to Damascus. Paul went on to be one of the greatest, most powerful apostles ever.

As I have prayed for these leaders, I have seen many miracles in their decisions, but, the best thing… I have no more poison in my heart towards them, I genuinely love them with the love of the Lord and have great compassion for them – I believe that if we all pray for our leaders, that many of them will get saved and do great things for the Lord – I also believe that the Lord will turn their hearts and open the door for the prophesied last day revival to take place.

Blessings on you, Nick
