Today’s New Covenant nugget is from John 2:3-10
And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto Him, ”They have no wine.” Jesus saith unto her, “Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.” His mother saith unto the servants, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it”. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He saith unto them, “Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast.” And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, and saith unto him, “Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.”
I was meditating on this scripture this week and was thinking about how the servants at the wedding brought empty pots and filled them with water… but, when Jesus spoke and told them to draw out of the pot and serve the governor of the feast, the servants were not serving water, but they were serving the best wine. Water went into the pot, but after Jesus spoke, what they drew out of the pots was not water, it was wine. That water was changed from the inside out. Water went into the pot, but wine came out of the pot.
As I was thinking about this scripture, I was reminded of the passage that talks about pouring new wine into new wineskins. The Holy Spirit wants to fill us up to the brim with His new wine, His best. What is in your pot? Those pots in the wedding represent your spirit man - has your pot run dry with nothing more to serve, have you run out of steam? …. Can you let Jesus fill you with His refreshing water. A water that becomes the best wine ever served.
In Christ we are made anew…. now, let’s believe Him to fill us with His wine… to pour in His living water, and to let Christ be served from our pots.
Ephesians 1:23, talks about the fulness of Him, ‘And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself.’ Let’s believe God today, to change us from the inside out, as He fills us with all of Him, as He pours in His living water that refreshes our souls and changes us and as we fill ourselves up on His life giving power and His life giving supply, the new wine of the Holy Spirit will be poured forth out of our lives bringing His joy everywhere we go.
