Jesus was teaching the multitude the parable about the sower and the seed sown. He shared how some seed fell by the way side, some see on stony ground, some seed fell amongst the thorns, and then there was the seed that fell on good ground. Later Jesus went on to explain to His disciples, that the seed which is sown on good ground represented those who would hear and receive His Word, and that His Word would produce fruit in the lives of those who receive it.
The Lord has been talking to us about being careful what we hear, but today I want to talk to you about having an open heart in ‘hearing’ what the Lord is saying to you from His Word.
Believe God for your heart to be good ground when you read a scripture or when you pick up your bible to do your daily reading and feeding off the Word. You can read a scripture and it can pass right over your head …. or you can read a scripture and let your heart and mind ‘lay hold’ and grab hold of it. Don’t be in a hurry when you are reading the Word, but take a few minutes to ponder on what you are reading… ask the Holy Spirit and say “Holy Spirit, open my heart to receive what You have for me in Your Word today, Father, make my ears, ears that would hear what the holy Spirit is saying to me, so that I can grasp it and lay hold of it, so that my life would bear fruit today from the Word I am hearing and receiving into my Spirit man.’
I want to pray for you today as you begin your day…
“Father God, thank You today, that my heart is good ground. Thank you that I hear and that I receive Your spoken, your living Word into my spirit, and I thank You today, that Your Word, brings for much fruit in my live, in Jesus Name I pray – Amen.”
