Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Philippians 4:8 (TPT)
Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always.
I do not know about you, but I have slipped into a place of frustration about how this COVID-19 thing is being handled by governing authorities… their illogical, incompetent, unconstitutional, needless, tyrannical control and actions removing freedoms that people fought and died for, for extended periods of time has gotten to me. Most importantly, taking my freedom to gather with people of like faith to worship away from me has personally been a crushing experience.
I have found myself complaining and ranting about all of this to the point where it has affected my joy and peace in believing. I am being totally transparent in the hope that as I overcome my failure that I may be able to help another that may be dealing with the same thing. We simply cannot allow circumstances or the actions of others towards us bring us to the point of giving place to the devil with our own thoughts, words or attitudes.
Now, more than ever, we have to take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ, we have to FIX our thoughts and words on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind… and we have to fasten our thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always! If it is not listed in Philippians 4:8, do not meditate on it, think about it or talk about it… instead actively engage in meditating, thinking and speaking life, hope, faith and blessing… meditate upon and speak the Word and the promises of God at all times.
Pray for the governing authorities and speak wisdom over them… break the power of darkness over them, in Jesus Name! Speak life over them! While Saul was engaged in pursuing, imprisoning, torturing and putting to death believers… while he was wrapped up in hate… while he was being used by the devil, someone was praying for him! As a result of the prayers for him and over him, he had an encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus and got gloriously saved! Saul, also known as Paul the apostle went on to be mightily used of God… arguably more than any other apostle.
The devil’s strategy is to separate us, and then to pollute us from the inside out – do not let that happen! Stay pure, stay joyful, keep the faith and remain at peace… stay full of the Word, do not forsake your confession of the Word, pray in the Spirit at all times, building yourself up in your most holy faith and continue to stir yourself and others around you up to maintain passion, power and purpose, in Jesus Name!
