Today’s devotion is from Hebrews 10:38 (TPT)
“My righteous ones will live from my faith. But if fear holds them back, My soul is not content with them!”
Hebrews chapter three and four have a theme…
In Hebrews three and four the writer of the epistle to the Hebrews refers to the children of Israel dealing with fear and unbelief as they faced giants and the military might of Jericho standing in the way of their promise.
Christian Jews along with the rest of the church also had to deal with fear issues, faith issues, provision issues and trust issues because of the great level of persecution that they faced. The writer of the book of Hebrews (presumably Paul) shares how that the children of Israel could not, or would not enter into rest by faith.
As believers we cannot enter into God’s promises relying on our own ability. As with Israel, if our reliance is upon ourselves, we will end up dealing with trust issues, fear issues, faith issues and provision issues if we do not enter into our promise God’s way.
Hebrews 3-4 presents a pathway to facing the giants and the walls in life and overcoming the New Covenant way…
Paul shares victory truth in three key New Covenant steps for us to apply in our daily lives. I am going to begin at the end of chapter four and then work my way back to chapter three.
Step one: Receive grace and mercy
Hebrews 4:16 says, ‘Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.’ The New Covenant is a covenant of grace. (Grace is unmerited, restored favor toward the Father.) Favor with the Father restores us to the place of the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, seated at the right hand of the Father in Heavenly places with the devil under our feet.
We can now boldly come to the throne of grace and obtain mercy and find grace in our time of need. Grace from the Father destroys every work of the devil and renders him disarmed and defeated.
Step two: Hold fast to your confession of faith
Hebrews 4:14 says, ‘Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.’ The confession of faith is speaking the Word. (Hebrews 4:12) As we confess and declare the living Word, the Word that we confess by faith receives all of the promises of God and brings them into manifestation.
Step three: Enter into God’s rest
Hebrews 4:9-11 says, ‘There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.’ Rest is the highest level of faith – The Lord wants us to face our giants and our walls in a place of total rest, not in fear, unbelief, anxiety and stress… in trust, in rest and in joy!
Receive supernatural grace and mercy at the throne of grace today, hold fast to your confession of faith and then, enter into a supernatural rest, in Jesus Name!
Make this confession of faith - say this out loud with me…
“John 17:17 says that I am sanctified and set apart by Your truth - Your Word is truth - Your Word absolute truth – the Word is for me to walk in, to accept as final truth and for me to stand on, to declare by faith and for me to do – I am who the Word says that I am - I can do what the Word says I can do - I can be who the Word says I can be - Christ in me can do all things – I can do all things through Christ - I have absolute POWER over ALL the Work of the enemy – nothing shall by any means harm me – I have power to raise the dead – I have power to heal the sick – I have power to do the works of Jesus – I have total authority over all of the works of His hands in Jesus Name! – the power and the authority of the creator of all things is on the inside of me – when I speak by faith, I ALWAYS have what I say – As I speak the Word, the Father ALWAYS watches over it to perform it – The Father loves it when I expect Him to ALWAYS perform His EVERY Word! – I always expect the Father to bring to pass every word that I speak according to His Word – God is not a man that He should lie – His Word is literal, His Word is truth and His Word is final!”
