Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Luke 16:10 (TPT)
“The one who manages the little he has been given with faithfulness and integrity will be promoted and trusted with greater responsibilities. But those who cheat with the little they have been given will not be considered trustworthy to receive more.”
Many times people focus on the big picture – I need to lose fifty pounds – I need to pay off $30k in debt… they focus on all the work that needs to be done to save their marriage or all of the work that it is going to take to achieve their goals. The bottom line is that you can’t lose fifty pounds in five minutes, or pay off all of your debt in the next five minutes or achieve your goals in five minutes, but you can do something significant! You can do something now that may seem insignificant, but as you continue being faithful the ‘little’ things will have a huge impact.
You have something in your hand now!
God used the stick that Moses had to do miracles – it is not about what you do not have, it is about what you do have and what you do with it! The widow’s mite got the attention of Jesus – she did not have much, but she gave it all! When what you do with what you have gets the attention of Jesus, your whole life will to change!
They say that if you fold one piece of printing paper (8.5x11) fifty times that it will be tall enough to reach the sun - If a piece of paper is .1 mm thick, folding it 50 times makes it 2^50 times thicker - (80 million miles), or .75 AU (the distance from the earth to the sun). After ten folds, it is only about an inch high – by fourteen folds it is about as tall as a person – after that the numbers exponentially increase.
The point of this mind numbing example is that little things, like folding a piece of paper have significant results as you continue to stay faithful. As I go through life, I ask myself the question, is this thought – are these words – is this action – is this prayer - is this attitude going to bring me closer to my goals, or push me further away? As I have been paying attention to the little things, I am beginning to see significant strides forward. “Precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:.” (Isaiah 28:10)
