Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Romans 5:19
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
What makes is a sinner, and what makes a righteous person?
Most people would say that a sinner is a sinner because he sins and a righteous man is a righteous man because he does righteous things, but is this a way of looking at sin and righteousness a worldview, a religious viewpoint, or a Word-View?
Lets look at the SCRIPTURE to see what God says about it…
"For as by one man’s disobedience [Adam] many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience [Jesus] many will be made righteous." - Romans 5:19
According to the Word, people WERE MADE sinners because ADAM sinned, and in Psalm 51 it says that we are BORN SINNERS. “For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.” - Psalm 51:5 (NLT)
Has a newborn infant committed sin?
Of course not, yet according to the Word he or she is a sinner. That innocent baby is a sinner because he or she came from sinners, just like I was born a Van Rensburg because my mother and father were Van Rensburg’s. According to the Word no person is MADE a sinner by their own actions of sin, a person is made a sinner because Adam sinned and because all humans are related to Adam, therefore every person is born in sin.
Lets ask the question again, what makes a sinner?
According to the New Covenant, a sinner is any human that has been born and has not received Jesus as Lord and Savior!
Romans 5:19 goes on to say that by one Man’s obedience [Jesus] many will be made righteous.
According to the Word, every person BORN according to the lineage of Adam is MADE a sinner, and every person BORN AGAIN according to the lineage of Jesus is MADE righteous.
Just like being a sinner has nothing to do with works, likewise righteousness has nothing to do with works. It is very important to the Lord that every born again Christian knows that they are righteous apart from their works.
There is an anointing and an impartation of faith, confidence, boldness and power in knowing that I am the righteousness of God in Christ.
If your IDENTITY is that of a SINNER, you will always struggle with sin, but if your IDENTITY is RIGHTEOUSNESS, you will walk as a righteous person. - Selah!
