Today’s devotion is from Genesis 8:22
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.”
The law of seedtime and harvest is as much of a law as what the law of gravity is – these laws will be in operation as long as the earth remains. The Lord established the law of seedtime and harvest for our blessing. As long as we sow good seed into good ground there will always be a harvest for us to live on.
In the New Covenant the Lord has freely given us everything for life and godliness – He has already abundantly supplied our every need – in seed form!
From procreation, to finances, to every aspect of life, God gives the seed, then we find the soil and we do the planting and then we get to enjoy the harvest. A husband and a wife can both be healthy, they can both have great faith, but if the husband does not sow seed into his wife there will never be a child.
Here is the reality for every born again believer, who is willing to sow in faith - God has given you an abundance of seed for every need! The bible says, “He gives seed to the sower”. As soon as you choose to be a sower, the Lord will immediately begin to increase the amount of your seed. You can increase without sowing by taking what belongs to another, or by making things happen in your own strength, or you can reap a bountiful harvest from the seed that you have sown in faith… the latter is far better.
Begin to sow seed for every area of your life and calling…
Sow money seeds for money needs, sow favor seeds for favor needs, sow mercy seeds for mercy needs – whatever the need, sow seed! If your business is financially strapped and you want it to yield a larger financial harvest, you have to increase your sowing from your business… that goes for your personal finances as well. When you sow money in faith, you will reap an abundant financial harvest. For every seed that you eat instead of planting, there will be a diminished harvest.
Each seed has a different germination period and each plant and tree has a different fruit yielding cycle…
Some seeds germinate in weeks and yield fruit in months, some take years to germinate and many years before yielding fruit. As we sow seed, we are sowing for a future harvest. God’s grace, mercy and miracle supply will supernaturally take care of the immediate needs of believers who have not sown seed, but no believer has to live from one miracle to the next. God’s best is for us to use our faith and for us to enjoy a bountiful harvest from seed planted in faith – His best is for us to live in the promised land of more than enough instead of relying on the miracle manna of the wilderness – Selah!
