Today’s New Covenant devotion from Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion Who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honor at the right hand of the throne of God.

The key to endurance is keeping our eyes on Jesus…

Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith. As we focus on Jesus and as we focus on the message of the cross we receive an impartation of anointed endurance. Focusing on Jesus is meditating on His Words to us in the New Covenant, declaring His Word, worshipping Jesus, and putting our faith in Jesus and His finished work.

The enemy will try his best to distract you just like he distracted Peter while he was walking on the water. As soon as Peter got distracted by the waves and started focusing on the storm instead of on Jesus, he began to sink. As soon as He got his eyes back on Jesus, he continued to walk on water. Focusing on Jesus gave Peter the faith to supernaturally do what he could not naturally do. His focus and his faith in and on Jesus and His word imparted supernatural ability to Peter.

Do not focus on the waves or on the storm that you are in, (The waves of debt, sickness, fear or lack), cast those thoughts and cares upon Jesus. Instead of focusing on the storm that you are in, put your entire focus and faith upon Jesus and His Word, and as you do, you will begin to supernaturally do what you cannot do in the natural. – Selah
