Today’s New devotion is from Hebrews 10:16-17 (NLT)
“This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”
The New Covenant laws are the law of liberty, the law of faith, the law of righteousness and the law of Christ. We have already studied the perfect law of liberty, the law of faith and the law of righteousness in Christ. Today we are going to end our study of New covenant laws with a study of the law of Christ…
The law of Christ…
Galatians 6:2 says to ‘Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.’
The law of Christ is found in Matthew 22:37-40 ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.’
Having read the law of Christ, it is so very important to know that the New Covenant law of Christ is not loving the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and loving your neighbor as yourself in your own strength. Many believers come under condemnation because they feel that they do not love Jesus with ALL their heart soul and mind and that they do not love others as much as they love themselves. There is a New covenant way of walking in the law of Christ!
Jesus said, “Freely you have received; freely give.” 1 John 4:19 says, ‘We love Him because He first loved us.’ We are only able to fulfill the New Covenant law of Christ to the extent that we have received His love for us. After receiving the love of Christ we can and will love Him back and we can love others by grace through faith. The secret is not trying to love Jesus and others more, the secret is receiving more of the love of Christ. As we receive the love of Christ, that agape love will overflow and flow like a river back to Jesus and others.
As we walk according to the law of Christ we will be divinely enabled to ‘Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.’ Our compassion for others will exponentially increase and our love [the Love of Christ] will propel us into pouring our lives out for others and for the Kingdom of God.
The New covenant laws are written on our hearts and minds by the Holy Spirit and all operate by grace through faith and by the power and ability of the Holy Ghost. They all lead to freedom, liberty, joy and peace and they all work together to give us life and life more abundantly. Every promise of God will be received and walked in as we live according to these laws that are written on our hearts. Again, they are written on your heart and on your mind, so, you will instinctively know the will of God and the leading of the Spirit. Follow His New Covenant laws and begin to really live! - Selah
