Today’s New Covenant nugget is from Mark 6:4-6

But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is treated with honor everywhere except in his own hometown, among his relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

It is difficult to conceive that the miracle working power in Jesus could ever be suppressed, yet the bible says that when Jesus got to His hometown, Nazareth, that He COULD NOT DO any mighty work there! With all of the faith that Jesus had, He could not do big miracles there! What in the world could suppress the miracle working power of Jesus?

Let’s look at what scripture says about it… ‘When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.’

The people in Jesus’ hometown did not have a revelation of who Jesus was, and their lack of revelation blocked them from having faith. When a person does not have supernatural revelation, they are bound to logic as well as natural, ‘sense realm’ realities. New Covenant supernatural revelation knowledge looks beyond the natural and beyond human logic and perceives things as God perceives them.

The people in Jesus’ hometown could not see past the natural, seeing Jesus as the carpenter’s son, and the absence of revelation knowledge gave birth to unbelief, and their unbelief blocked the miracle working power of Jesus.

Supernatural miracle working power is fueled by faith, and faith is activated by revelation knowledge of the Word. the Bible says that if someone is in unbelief, in doubt and not in faith, that they will not receive anything from the Lord… (James 1:6-7) in other words, miracle provision is fueled by faith, and doubt and unbelief block a person’s ability to receive miracles.

Move beyond the mind and perceptions of the flesh and allow the Holy Spirit to impart revelation knowledge… look at what Peter said about Jesus in contrast to the people from Jesus’ home town… Peter said, “Jesus, You are the Anointed One, the Son of the living God!” Then Jesus said, “you are favored and privileged Simeon, son of Jonah! For you didn’t discover this on your own, but my Father in heaven has supernaturally revealed it to you.

Peter had revelation knowledge and it opened the door for him to receive enough power from Jesus and His Word to walk on water, and the people in Jesus’ hometown received nothing from Jesus… same Jesus, same Word, same power, but totally different outcome.

Trust the Lord to for your spiritual eyes to be opened concerning Jesus and His Word today, and then get ready… miracles are about to begin to pop like popcorn in your life!

Blessings on you, Nick
