Today’s devotion is from Psalm 30:5
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
God is not angry at you and does not ever get angry at you, the anger of God that David was talking about was a common experience for those in the Old Covenant – their sins angered the Father and they endured the Father’s wrath because there was no separation between them and their sin. Now, sin still angers the Father in the New Covenant, but the difference is, as a born again believer, you are in Christ – so, when the Father looks at you, He see Jesus, and He is not angry at Jesus. Today, the Father’s wrath is aimed at the source of all sin… the devil and the powers of darkness. Jesus received the Father’s wrath of fire on the cross in our stead.
The Father is not angry at you, He is not disappointed in you, He sees you in Christ as His perfect child! In the New Covenant we are highly favored among men because we are in Christ. This unmerited favor is for a lifetime! You are a child of the Father and you are covered in His grace and favor.
