Today's devotion is from Luke 4:18-19
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted [by the anointing], to proclaim liberty to the captives [by the anointing] and recovery of sight to the blind [by the anointing], to set at liberty those who are oppressed [by the anointing]; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. [by the anointing]”
The anointing is the seal of God. Legal documents have a seal pressed onto them as proof of authenticity… the anointing of God is His seal! It verifies His approval and whatever He anoints is of Him, by Him and approved by Him. The anointing of God on Jesus Christ (The Anointed One) was God the Father and the Holy Spirit’s seal upon His life. When Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me”, He was saying, “I am the Messiah, and the anointing upon my life is God’s seal to authenticate that what I am saying is true!”
The anointing is more than a lifeless seal on paper…
The anointing is the power of God to release God’s promises! To preach is to proclaim God’s Word under the anointing. When we proclaim God’s Word under the anointing, it releases provision and prosperity to the poor, it releases wholeness to the brokenhearted, it releases liberty to the captives, it releases recovery of sight to the blind the anointing sets the oppressed free and whatever is proclaimed by faith under the anointing is established.
Because of Jesus, you are anointed…
You are called ‘Christian’ because you are anointed. Christ means ‘anointed’. Christian means ‘little anointed one’, or, ‘belonging to the Anointed One’ and sanctioned by the Anointed One.
The anointing on your life as a believer is not a trophy; it is a glorious tool to release God’s power, His authority and His promises to those in need. Proclaim and preach the Word of life to those in need and the anointing upon your preaching will release freedom, blessing and favor to all who would receive.
