Today’s New Covenant nugget is from is from Romans 15:13
‘Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’
Joy and peace in believing causes you to abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit… in other words, “Joy and peace, in believing will take you to a place of overflowing hope.”
Joy and peace in believing equals ‘FAITH’… joy is the highest level of faith and peace is the second highest level of faith, so joy and peace mixed together make up very strong faith. the Bible says that FAITH is the substance of things HOPED for (Hebrews 11:1), another way of saying it is “joy and peace in believing’ are the substance of things hoped for.”
Romans 15:13 calls God, ‘the God of HOPE’. Hope is what sees, desires and expects a great outcome… without hope faith does not have a target, and is nothing more than a vehicle, overloaded with blessings on a road to nowhere. In other words “Faith receives what God gives, but hope gives faith your delivery address.”
The way that the Lord sustains hope in believers is by filling them with joy and peace in believing. There is a ‘joy and peace’ infilling of the Spirit that causes believers to abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. When we get in the midst of pressure, trials, hardship and situations that attempt to steal our hope… when those times come, stop and ask the Holy Spirit for a fresh infilling of peace and joy!
Many people I speak to do not enjoy their lives, their careers, their jobs, or their relationships. They either want to quit, or just endure life from one day to the next. When a believer’s JOY and peace levels are not maintained, hope goes and people end up hopeless, helpless, lifeless, stressed, negative and depressed… just going through the motions.
Family, it does not have to be that way! You can have a life filled with joy, peace, hope, excitement and fulfillment, regardless of circumstances.
