Today’s New Covenant Nugget is from Philippians 4:8 (TPT)
‘So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.’
When Goliath looked at David, he saw a small shepherd boy without a sword, a shield or armor… when David looked at Goliath, he saw a very big target that could not be missed, he saw himself in the light of his covenant and in the light of God’s Word, and he saw a big man who had just picked a fight with God, who is bigger that one million Goliaths.
Perspective matters! Sometimes we just need a reminder to keep a New Covenant perspective on things. I can’t tell you how often I am reminded to go back to Philippians 4:8.
I just love this verse in The Passion Translation, ‘Keeping our minds on things that are beautiful, respectful, pure, holy, merciful and kind’. When we fasten our thoughts on the glorious works of God and keep the praises of God on our lips, we stay in FAITH and we keep faith growing in our hearts and minds. If you are struggling to stay in faith, just do a Philippians 4:8 check up on yourself.
Start focusing on what God is doing for you, how big God is, how powerful He is… see the possibilities, believe for the coming promotions, see yourself blessed… and as you do, you will find yourself speaking those things out by faith. Rather than complaining or focusing on negative things… allow Philippians 4:8 thinking to propel you forward into faith declarations over your friends, your family, your situations and your day to day life.
I believe the Lord wants to see His church, filled with people speaking only what is honorable, beautiful, respectful, pure, holy, merciful and kind. As we do this, we will actually find ourselves, overflowing with the love of God for each other and for those He is desiring us to reach for Christ. Faith-building words will propel us into unity and love beyond measure to another level of walking in the fulness of the Holy Ghost living in and through us.
Let Philippians 4:8 propel you today into new levels in your walk with God. Fastening your thoughts on the glorious work of God in your life and in the lives of your friends and family. When you think of the word ‘fasten’ – think of your car seat belt. Once you have fastened your seat belt, you become one with your seat and you stay put. Just so, when you fasten your mind to the Word of God, you begin to think and speak His thoughts and His Words. As you do this, you will find yourself growing in Faith and instead of negativity, depression, concern, worry and fear, you will find yourself walking in continual Praise for the great things God is doing.
Blessings on you, Esther
