Today’s devotion is from 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (MSG)

May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If He said it, He’ll do it!’

People are brokenhearted, dejected, rejected, abused and hurting. When people come to Jesus, they come as they are, and I truly believe that when they get saved much of the hurt and brokenness is instantly removed.

However as life goes on; even as believers we continue to walk through persecution, rejection and abuse. Some things that we go through are soul-destroying. This only serves to dig up the bones of past hurts. The bottom line is that there are many broken people in the body of Christ. As a body, many times we have difficulty trusting others, we face challenges in our relationships, our friendships and as parents, children and in our marriages.

Broken, scarred, hurting people have to be made whole before they can function the way God intended! We have to DEAL with our brokenness if we are going to move forward…

The book of Hebrews was written to a people in transition… beaten, broken and restless…

Hebrews three and four gives a New Covenant pathway from brokenness and restlessness to wholeness and rest and prosperity. Hebrews three and four primarily deals with entering into the REST of Jesus.

When the Holy Spirit wrote Hebrews three and four, He saw the RESTLESSNESS of the people and He saw that restlessness was the result of brokenness. The Holy Spirit saw that brokenness and restlessness led to frustration, insecurity, instability and that it hindered the work of God in and through His people. His prescription was for all believers to enter into His REST supernaturally and to be delivered from all RESTLESSNESS!

Hebrews 4:9-11

‘There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest...’

Here are three steps that will set you on the New Covenant pathway to wholeness, rest, joy, purpose and vision…

STEP 1 - RELEASE THE LIVING WORD INTO YOUR HEART

Hebrews 4:12-13

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.’

The Word dissects, discerns and then destroys the problem.

STEP 2 - DECLARE AND CONFESS THE WORD OVER EVERY BROKEN AREA

Hebrews 4:14

‘Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.’

God’s Word Translation says, ‘We need to hold on to our declaration of faith’

Confessing the Word over yourself will plant seeds of purpose, vision and rest.

STEP 3 - RECEIVE GRACE

Hebrews 4:16

‘Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.’

Grace will help you to function as God designed you to function, it will supernaturally empower you to do what you could not do before and to walk in newness of life as a whole, healed, restful, joyful, anointed believer, in Jesus Name!
