When you speak or pray in tongues your spirit prays to God as led by the Holy Spirit. As a born again believer, your spirit man is intimately connected to the Lord. Your spirit is not wrongly influenced by circumstances and is not limited to your knowledge of the Word, your spirit is connected to the Holy Spirit and when your spirit prays in tongues, it prays and declares the perfect will of God as led by the Spirit which is 100% according to the Word.
When we pray in our earthly language there are many limitations. We are limited to our ability to be led by the Spirit. We are limited to our knowledge of the Word. We are limited to the extent that our minds have been renewed. We are limited to our knowledge of the New Covenant. Praying in tongues bypasses all of those natural limitations.
What you are saying is a mystery… a mystery to the devil, a mystery to your flesh and a mystery to anyone listening in! The Lord knows what you are saying and your spirit knows… nobody else! Spirit prayer in tongues is prayer on the highest level of faith. It is the highest level of prayer, period! No doubt, no error, no double mindedness, just pure, powerful, anointed, faith filled, Spirit led prayer.
1 Corinthians 14:4 says that he who speaks in tongues edifies himself, or, he who speaks in tongues builds himself up. The word edify comes from the word edifice… a huge structure, so, to edify yourself is to raise yourself up and to enlarge, enrich, to prosper and to go to another level in gifting, influence and ability. It also implies growing in the gifts of the Spirit and in the operation of the miracle working power of God.
Devote time every day to speak in tongues, it is the doorway to the supernatural and it is the fastest way to grow into the person that God has designed us to be and to operate at full potential under our wonderful New Covenant!
