Today's devotion is from 1 Corinthians 2:14-16
‘The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that He [The Holy Spirit] may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.’
The things that God has for you are spiritually discerned.
The natural man does not and cannot receive things from the Spirit of God. Your inheritance, your calling, divine opportunities, divine strategies and supernatural keys to unlock doors of blessing are all given by the Holy Spirit directly to your spirit and they are spiritually discerned.
Only those with the mind of Christ can spiritually discern what the Spirit has for them.
When the bible talks about the renewing of the mind, (Romans 12:2) it is telling you to renew your mind and to change your way of thinking from what it has been to the mind of Christ… “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5) The mind of the flesh has been corrupted by world views of this age, cultural practices, unscriptural family values and the deception of the devil. We need to ‘brainwash’ our minds with the blood of Jesus and then put on the anointed mind of Christ so that we can discern who we are in Christ and what the Spirit is leading us to do.
What is the mind of Christ?
The mind of Christ is more than a way of thinking, it is a mindset… it is an attitude, values and principles.
The mind of Christ has a revelation of who you are in Christ, what you can do through Christ as well as exactly how, when and where to do it. The mind of Christ spiritually discerns the Holy Spirit’s guidance. The mind of Christ is an anointed mind with anointed thoughts, anointed ideas, principles and values and anointed wisdom and knowledge.
How do you put on the mind of Christ?
Firstly, Jesus has already made it possible for us to have the mind of Christ in the New Covenant of GRACE, so putting on the mind of Christ has been made easy because Jesus has already done all of the hard work.
Here are three simple steps to putting on the mind of Christ.
1. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you put on the mind of Christ.
2. Receive the mind of Christ by grace through faith.
3. Take time every day to meditate on [study, rehearse, ponder and confess] the living Word of God.
