Laying Hold.jpg

Today's devotion is from Philippians 3:12

'Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.'

What has Christ Jesus laid hold of for you?

The word ‘salvation’ in the original Greek is ‘sozo.’ It literally means salvation, deliverance, protection, preservation, healing and prosperity as well as to be blessed with every blessing.

This includes wisdom, grace and favor, miracle working power and walking in the authority of Jesus. Jesus has laid hold of all of this and much more for EVERY believer. 2 Peter 1:3 says that ‘His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.’

The Apostle Paul says that he is pressing on that he may lay hold…

To press on is to not loose heart, to continue to contend and to stay in a place of great expectancy. Pressing on means that we will not settle for anything less that receiving and walking in all that Christ Jesus provided for us on the cross of Calvary.

Paul admits that he has not already attained everything that is his in Christ 'YET'... but he states his determination to press on until he has laid hold of EVERY promise, EVERY blessing and ALL of what is rightfully his in Christ Jesus!

Don’t settle for LESS than God’s BEST. It pleases the Lord when we exercise our faith in order to receive and walk in the things that He has given us. It pleases the Lord when we believe to receive divine health, prosperity, wisdom, supernatural ability, miracle working power and increased authority and influence. It pleases the Lord when we are determined to walk in EVERYTHING that He has laid hold of for us to walk in! Don’t stop pressing on until you have everything that is rightfully yours in Christ!
