Today's devotion is from Revelation 4:2-8
I was in the spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He Who sat there was like a jasper in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.
Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first creature was like a lion, the second like a calf, the third had a face like a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
The spiritual ream is real!
The Apostle John give us a glimpse into the spiritual realm in the book of revelation. God is Spirit and we are surrounded by a spiritual world that can be seen and perceived by our spirit’s as the Lord opens our spiritual eyes as in the testimony of John on the Isle of Patmos.
In the next few teachings I am going to be sharing some nuggets from the Word about the reality and the importance of the spirit realm. The Word is clear that we are spirit beings, that live in bodies, that God is a Spirit and He seeks after those who worship Him in spirit and in truth. We are living in a spirit world, surrounded by spirit beings… angels, heavenly beings and spirits of darkness are very real.
Paul the Apostle prayed that our spiritual eyes would be opened…
"I do not cease praying and giving thanks for you: that the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding [Your spiritual eyes] being enlightened; that you may know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power." (Ephesians 1:16-19)
When our spiritual eyes are opened by the Lord… we will know what we are called to do and it will fill us with hope, we will know what our inheritance is in Christ, we will know the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, and we will know exactly how His mighty power works.
I encourage you pray the prayer of the apostle Paul over your life today…
“Father, give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ; open my spiritual eyes and enlighten them that I may know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance, and the exceeding greatness of His power toward us me as a believer, according to the working of Your mighty power, in Jesus Name!”
